1990 Citroen BX GTi 4×4 Super Rare 1 of 3

What a rare car! This is a great example with mileage at 85,000 and currently MOT’d to Aug 2021.

Looks superb all round; inside, outside and under the bonnet in excellent condition, with all electrics and hydraulics in good working order.

History file includes original sales brochures, price list, engine manual, workshop booklets, a collection of MOT & SORN certificates and the Maintenance/Service booklet stamped upto 1996.

Unusual for the words ‘hydropneumatic’ and ‘hothatch’ to go together but Citroen managed it with the now hard to find BX Gti 4×4 and with only 3 of these left on the road this is a rare chance to own one.

An uprated version of the GT, the GTi was fitted with 1.9 8v fuel injected engine and with a standing quarter mile of 17.8s, 0-60 in circa 8.5s, 125 bhp, a max speed of 119mph and a £13,900 price tag, this was a serious bit of kit in 1990. ‘Loves Driving Hates Garages’ was Citroens marketing campaign of the day, promoting the reduced running costs of the BX while maintaining performance and style on the road. Motorsport in 1990 reported that it ‘handled admirably whilst being driven quickly along poor quality roads’ citing the ride as ‘firm but comfortable’ – favourable reviews and positive press coverage took the market by surprise, with few expecting a hothatch GTi to ‘ride on air’.
