1981 Volvo 343 GL 1.4 – charmingly original with only 38,894 miles

1981 Volvo 343 GL in charmingly original condition with an incredible mileage of 38,894 – that’s an average of less than 1,000 per year! Every annual MOT certificate is present from 1984 with the exception of 2001!

Finished in metallic green with a typically period brown interior that presents particularly well with no cracking or splits to dash, it retains the correct Volvo ‘tray mats’ all around and is the desirable non-sunroof model.

The car benefits from new coil overs, a Weber 32dir Carb and electronic ignition; starting running & driving on the key with no warning lights present. Brakes, clutch and gearbox are in great order and the MOT history shows a sensible record of gentle use.

With rear wheel drive and the 1.4 engine its a surprisingly lively & nimble drive, not giving away it’s 41 years at all.

Now for the minor issues:
The bodywork is showing some signs of age related surface rust and the delightful original paint some fade. We have taken back one rear arch to investigate, presenting simple surface rust and no rot. The boot strut isn’t holding the boot open and will need new arms, but we can find no other faults.
