1980 MGB GT – A Great Practical Classic
Designed by Pininfarina, and produced in huge numbers until 1980 the MGB is still Britain’s best selling medium sized sports car of all time, and its no wonder; practical, stylish, reliable and with the 1800cc B Series engine mated to a 4 speed manual gearbox, with overdrive….really rather sporty!
Finished in Inca Yellow the body looks straight and solid with some age related marks; minor paint bubbling over the headlamps and in panel creases, crazing to the roof with some paint fade to part panels (please see photos). Sills & arches look good and solid as do the boot well & engine bay and door shuts are good & solid – in fact not bad at all for a 43 year old car.
The interior presents particularly well with a brown fabric trim showing no rips or tears, and the dash pleasingly is in super condition.
Its riding on very smart later LE wheels with good tyres, including the spare, and has retained its tool kit in the period strap & buckle bag.
*1800cc B Series Engine
*4 Speed Manual with overdrive in 3rd & 4th
*Limited Edition Wheels
*No smoke or oil leaks
A fabulous practical classic to own and use, it starts on the key and drives superbly with no rattles or bumps, no sinister smoke or oil leaks and with classic insurance at circa £80 a year, and being Tax & MOT exempt, it would make a perfectly useable daily driver.
It comes with an original handbook and a large file of maintenance and service invoices going back to the ‘90s – clearly a well looked after and cherished example, with a little cosmetic tidy it would make a mint example.
